10/17/07: In September a retired lady came to me for treatment of intense pain in her face which radiated from her left eye down to her left jaw. She couldn't say "B" or "P"; couldn't open her mouth wide enough to eat normal; couldn't touch the left side of her face without shooting pain. Sometimes, the pain which starts at her left jaw would feel like a knife stabbing continuously all the way up to her eyes, incapacitating her for days at a time. She emphasized that the pain she experiences on and off is worse than any pain a man or woman could experience, this she quoted from a medical article she had about her condition.
She had gotten no relief from visits to her medical doctor and neurologist, and inconsistent relief from three other acupuncturists. Knowing that I was basically her last resort (she was not going for surgical removal of some part in her brain to alleviate the problem), I felt challenged to be the one to make a difference. After one treatment from me, her pain dropped from a 9 out of 10 to 5 out of 10, much to our relief. The next treatment two days later resulted in her pain dropping to 3 out of 10. I continued treatment twice a week the following week, once a week for the third week, and she hasn't had a recurrence of pain since. But, since it's a chronic trigeminal nerve problem, I'm sure I'll see her in about three months for another visit, like a tune-up one gets with cars.
